Abstract
Economic security has always been an object of investigation by researchers of different disciplines. It has strongly characterized the institutional political debate of the last decade in the West, especially since the financial crisis of 2008, but even more in the last year after the economic consequences due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This research aims to study economic security through an indicator that takes into account the income levels of italian houseolds, from 2014 to 2016. The methodology that will be used falls within those known as Small Area Estimation, where we have chosen the Italian provinces as small areas and an area-level spatio-temporal model. EU-SILC longitudinal data were used for this purpose, where EU-SILC stands for European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions, that is one of the main sources of data for the periodic reports of the European Union on the social situation and the spread of poverty in the member countries.
