Abstract

The Theory of Storage has emphasized the role of Inventory defined as the commodity that has been produced and is in storage. The goal of the paper is to show that Storage capacity is also extremely important, in particular for commodities where storage has to be specifically allocated. We illustrate this property by analyzing the case of US Crude Oil in 2020, period during which the first nearby contract price went to minus 37 dollars.
