Lending system

The library's lending system is computerised. Anybody who is registered in the local database may borrow books or ask to be registered by showing an ID (identity) card. Special collections and rare books, dissertations, periodicals and books published before 1959 are not for loan and are be read exclusively in the reading room at the first floor.

Sections located in the basement

Requested books in the basement, especially in the "Statistica" and “Deposito” sections, will be picked up once a hour from 9 a.m. till 6 p.m. (more often when possibile). Requests have to be made through the online catalogue.

The librarians are available to guide you through the library's services and will help you to consult the online catalogues. 

Interlibrary loan and document delivery

If an item you are looking for is not available in the library, it may be requested from other libraries worldwide, through the reciprocal scheme called interlibrary loan. We do not charge fees for the service, but lending libraries may.
Lending out to other participating libraries is also free of charge. 
Special collections and rare books, dissertations, periodicals and books published before 1959 are neither for loan nor for interlibrary loan. 

Suggestions for purchasing books or periodicals

It is possible to ask the librarian for new acquisitions, so long as the subject matter is pertinent to the disciplines the library is specialized in.

Photocopying

A copy machine is available within the library: you can use it by purchasing a card, the same kind used in most Bologna University libraries. Copyright law applies.

Online services

You can send in a request for a book from any computer by using the electronic catalogue. 
The library is among those which participate to the Ask the librarian service.
The library has joined ESSPER, a catalogue for searching Italian periodicals on Economy, Social Sciences and History.
